How to get people involved: User-centric approach in participation projects

11.05.2016

In a recent talk organised by Wirtschaftsagentur Wien Senior Scientist Peter Fröhlich held a keynote on “Online Participation: Impulses from Technology Experience research”.
There is already a growing number of online platforms and tools, which support participation of citizens, but there are still open questions, for example regarding the continuous use of such platforms. In his keynote Peter Fröhlich presented findings based on a user-centric approach. He showed best practices and results from participation projects of the Business Unit Technology Experience (Innovation Systems), like b-Part or Smarticipate. What kind of designs do people react to, what kind of devices do people prefer? Do people rather participate via apps, are they motivated by game aspects?
Peter Fröhlich gave an insight into Technology Experience research and stressed the importance of knowing target groups and their preferences.
