The Gigabit Academy is a new service offered by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Tourism (BMLRT) and the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) that provides exclusive insights into the world of gigabit and 5G applications. It will take place from 26 April to 13 June 2022 and aims to support participants in initiating 5G applications together with partners.
The new mobile communications standard 5G will trigger digital changes in almost all areas of our economy and society. However, all efforts to expand broadband and 5G will only be of greater benefit if the full technical potential of gigabit networks is also used in the form of customised applications. In order to accelerate the development of applications, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Regions and Tourism (BMLRT), together with the FFG, has therefore created a new service offering with the Gigabit Academy. The vision of the Gigabit Academy is to set the right impulses to advance the development of Gigabit and 5G applications in Austria. Knowledge from universities, research institutions, companies and organisations is bundled and made available to the "Gigabit Academy" participants in the form of workshops, lectures and individual coaching.
Workshops, individual coaching and cooperation opportunities on Gigabit and 5G applications
The Gigabit Academy is an information & ideas lab and aims to initiate projects in the field of Gigabit and 5G applications. It will take place from 26 April to 13 June 2022 in different regions of Austria at various partner organisations and will conclude with a follow-up event in September 2022.
AIT Gigabit Academy Module: 5G for Safety Critical Applications on 24 May 2022, 9-12 a.m.
The AIT Austrian Institute of Technology is organising a workshop on "5G for safety-critical applications" on 24 May 2022 at the AIT main location in Vienna and in cooperation with Ericsson Austria. This Gigabit Academy module will cover new technological approaches that 5G offers to process enormously high data volumes and to realise highly reliable real-time communication, as required, for example, for assistance systems in road traffic or for automation in production.
