miCROPe 2024

08.07.2024
International conference on microbial plant production in Vienna organised by AIT and ÖGMBT

The AIT Center for Health and Bioresources and the Austrian Society for Molecular Biosciences and Biotechnology (ÖGMBT) are jointly organising miCROPe for the fifth time. The conference will take place from 15 to 18 July 2024 in the Organgerie and Apothekertrakt of Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna with the motto "Microbe-assisted crop production - opportunities, challenges and needs".

miCROPe 2024 will bring together leading scientists and industry experts to discuss the latest advances in the use of microorganisms to improve crop production. Key topics include climate-induced stress resistance in plants, the role of microbiomes in nutrient uptake and microbial plant protection. These topics are essential for the development of sustainable agricultural solutions.

A particular focus is on the practical application of microbial products in the field. Scientists from the AIT Competence Unit Bioresources of the Centre for Health and Bioresources will present their current research results and thus strengthen the bridge between basic research and industrial application. Confirmed speakers include renowned experts such as Sofie Goormachtig, University of Ghent, and Jan Leach, Colorado State University.

One conference - many events

The conference will be accompanied by satellite workshops and social events. These include the "5th International Training Course & Workshop on Advanced Microscopy Techniques for Plant-Microbe Interaction Analysis" organised by AIT from 8 to 12 July in Tulln and the "Workshop on the Needs by Industry Regarding Registration of Microbial Plant Biostimulants in the EU" on 15 July in Vienna.

Another highlight is the "Conference Dinner @ Heurigen" on 17 July, hosted by the Mayor and the City of Vienna. This event offers a relaxed atmosphere for dialogue and networking. The programme is complemented by a night tour of Schönbrunn Zoo and a guided walk through old Vienna.
