Business Location Austria: Deep tech made in Austria - Quantum technologies

10.06.2024
A series of events organised by the BMEIA

The aim of the "Business Location Austria" series of events, which the Foreign Ministry's Business Service organises periodically at the Diplomatic Academy, is to inform diplomats stationed in Vienna about the various facets of Austria as a future-oriented and competitive business and research location.

The theme of the most recent information event on 14 May 2024 was "Deep Tech made in Austria", with a focus on quantum technologies. In front of around 60 international guests, the spotlight was on the Austrian quantum ecosystem from the perspectives of science, finance and administration. Building on a rich heritage of outstanding Austrian quantum physicists, Austrian research teams continue to break records in quantum science on a regular basis. This has been widely recognised at least since quantum physicist Anton Zeilinger was awarded the Nobel Prize in 2022.

With the help of Hannes Hübel (quantum expert at the Austrian Institute of Technology AIT), Anna Spandl (investment analyst at Quantum Exponential), Désirée Ehlers (quantum expert at the Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology) and Claudia Reinprecht (tech diplomacy expert at the Foreign Ministry), the diplomats in attendance were able to deepen their knowledge of the dynamic Austrian quantum tech ecosystem and the transformative potential of quantum technology in the global economic context and beyond.
