INSIGHT INTO THE CITY OF THE FUTURE: PRACTICAL WORK EXPERIENCE DAYS AT THE AIT AUSTRIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

05.02.2024
The AIT Austrian Institute of Technology opened its doors to 18 highly motivated pupils, who were able to gain exclusive insights into the fascinating world of applied research and technology during the Professional Practice Days. From 29 January to 1 January, the On 1 February 2024, the event gave pupils from grades 7 and 8 an on-site insight into the day-today work of researchers.

The practical work experience days at the AIT create a link between theoretical knowledge and the
real professional environment. Pupils from various Viennese schools were given the unique
opportunity to gain practical insights into the non-university research institute and experience work
on the latest developments in the fields of technology, energy and the environment. In addition,
the work experience days also gave AIT researchers an insight into the young people's
perspective on forward-looking topics such as urban planning, the energy issue and the mobility of
tomorrow.

The young people not only had the opportunity to gain valuable insights into the professional
requirements for researchers, but were also able to actively participate in the "Design your dream
city" project. In project groups, the students presented their ideas for a more climate-friendly,
energy-efficient and inclusive city and then presented their concepts to selected AIT employees
and Managing Director and CEO Brigitte Bach.

Brigitte Bach is delighted with the great interest and active participation of the pupils in this
important programme. "We are delighted with the innovative ideas presented as part of the
'Design your dream city' project and are firmly convinced that these young minds will help shape
the future. We can clearly see the desire for climate-neutral mobility and energy planning in the
cities presented. The topic of social inclusion is also very important to the young generation. We
would like to thank everyone involved and look forward to welcoming even more inquisitive
students to the AIT Career Days next year. Together we are shaping the future of science and
technology!" says Bach.
