Anita Graser is Data Science Expert in the research group "Data Science & Artificial Intelligence" and wrote her dissertation at the Paris-Lodron University Salzburg. In her thesis, she dealt with the challenges of Big Data in the field of movement data analysis. To this end, she developed systematic concepts for assessing data quality as well as the necessary technical tools. The latter include new scalable aggregation methods for use on Spark Clusters, as well as more accessible Python Libraries for the visual analysis of motion data.

On 28 March, this year's award winners were selected by the Runder Tisch Geoinformationssysteme e.V. at the Technical University of Munich. The Runder Tisch Geoinformationssysteme e.V. awards its promotional prizes for young scientists in the field of geoinformatics as part of the annual Munich GI Roundtable. The prize is awarded for an outstanding dissertation and a master's thesis. All students or graduates of classroom or distance learning programmes and employees of technical colleges, universities and universities of applied sciences in German-speaking countries are eligible to participate.

Edit: For her dissertation, Anita Graser received an outstanding 2nd place in the Young Investigators Award 2021 in the category "Learning about Data: Analytical and Digital Sciences" from the Salzburg University. Read more here. "What makes me particularly happy about this award is that it is cross-disciplinary, making geoinformatics topics more visible in the broader data science community" comments Graser on her extra award. Congratulations!
