About the Fake-Shop Detector

To protect consumers on the Internet, AIT, the Austrian Institute for Applied Telecommunications (ÖIAT) and IT specialist X-Net Services have developed a unique and free AI tool that automatically protects against fraud in online shopping. The Fake-Shop Detector is a fraud protection tool that runs in your own internet browser. It checks suspicious shops for 21,000 characteristics, identifies them with almost 100% accuracy and warns users in real-time using a traffic light system.

The tool's success has been proven - the security service has already won several awards, including the IT business prize "eAward", the Austrian State Prize for Digitization and the Constantinus Award. Most recently, the Fake-Shop Detector was the Austrian test winner among 35 international cyber security products tested for their effectiveness against fake shops in a test conducted by the independent system test experts AV-Comparatives. The excellent rating of a solution "made in Austria" also underlines the importance of funding for Austrian security research - the development work was funded by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance under the KIRAS security research program.
