PETRA THANNER IS A NEW MEMBER OF THE EMVA BOARD

Petra Thanner, MSc, MBA, Thematic Coordinator at the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, was recently elected to the board of the European Machine Vision Association (EMVA). This appointment underlines her outstanding achievements and her long-standing commitment to machine vision far beyond Austria's borders.

Petra Thanner between research and industry

Petra Thanner studied in Vienna, Krems and Anchorage (Alaska) and began her career in the field of image processing in 1995. Since then, she has been actively involved in applied research and has specialized in the development of new solutions for the automation of optical quality control. She currently leads the business development activities for the High-Performance Vision Systems Competence Unit at AIT and is Thematic Coordinator. The unit focuses on the research and development of new technologies and solutions for automated industrial inspection. She also leads the 3D Inspection and Measurement team, which is dedicated to developing innovative technologies for inline 3D and 2D quality assurance methods. In her multifaceted roles, Thanner combines cutting-edge scientific research with industry needs to drive innovation for optimized and sustainable production processes.

On June 13, she was elected to the Board of Directors of the European Machine Vision Association (EMVA) at the General Assembly in Gdansk.

As a member of the EMVA Board of Directors, Petra Thanner plays a key role in machine vision in Europe. She works closely with other leading experts in the industry to promote innovative technologies and strengthen the competitiveness of the European machine vision industry. Petra Thanner's election to the EMVA Board is a recognition of her achievements in this field.

The role of the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology in machine vision

With its state-of-the-art research infrastructure and its interdisciplinary team of experts, the AIT makes a decisive contribution to strengthening the competitiveness of European industry on the global market. It plays a key role in research and development in the field of image processing and contributes to efficient and sustainable production processes with its technologies in optical quality control and automated inspection. In addition, Markus Clabian, Head of Competence Unit High-Performance Vision Systems at the Center for Vision, Automation & Control, strengthens the role of the AIT in networking scientists and research institutions with industry as a member of the Advisory Board of the European Machine Vision Forum (EMVF).

The European Machine Vision Association (EMVA)

The EMVA is a Europe-wide industry association dedicated to the promotion and further development of machine vision. It provides a platform for exchange between companies, researchers and other interest groups and promotes cooperation and knowledge transfer within the industry. The EMVA Board of Directors consists of nine leading experts and decision-makers from different nations, whose task is to shape and consolidate the European machine vision ecosystem.
