Clarivate Analytics publishes list of internationally most cited researchers.

Vienna, November 2021: For the fourth year in a row, Priv.-Doz. Dr. DI Angela Sessitsch, Head of Competence Unit Bioresources, is among the most frequently cited researchers worldwide. In addition to her role at AIT, Angela Sessitsch is also Vice President of ÖGMBT - Austrian Association of Molecular Life Sciences and Biotechnology. The analysis by Clarivate Analytics was based on scientific papers published and cited between 2010 and 2020. Thus, the 6,602 scientists from 70 countries listed, a total of 43 from all disciplines in Austria, rank in the top percent in their scientific field.

With this list, Clarivate Analytics identifies and recognises exceptional individual researchers who have a major impact on the research community, measured by the rate at which their work is cited by others. "Austria's global share of this scientific elite has risen from 0.6 to 0.7 per cent," ISI analyst David Pendlebury stressed in a statement to APA - despite the fact that China has taken share away from many other industrialised nations. "This is no small achievement," Pendlebury said, adding that when a nation increases its share as Austria has, "it means it is making real progress."

The Clarivate Analytics data center includes services such as Web of Science, Cortellis, Derwent Innovation, Derwent World Patents Index, CompuMark, MarkMonitor, Techstreet, Publons, EndNote and Kopernio. The Group focuses on scientific and academic research, patent analysis, regulatory standards, brand protection, pharmaceutical and biotechnology intelligence, trademark protection and intellectual property management.
