On October 18, 2021 the award ceremony of this year's science prize of Lower Austria took place in Grafenegg. Bernadette Fina, Center for Energy, was awarded a recognition prize for her research on different aspects of energy communities.
Her research deals with the topics of the profitability of energy communities in single multi-apartment buildings as well as between several buildings, with the optimization and optimal dimensioning of photovoltaic systems and other technologies, the impact of contracting of renewable generation systems in combination with thorough building renovation on the profitability of energy communities and the potential estimation of cost-optimal photovoltaic capacities in case of a roll-out of energy communities.
