Smart Shipping Hackathon: Second place for AIT team!

04.12.2020

Great success for the AIT team around Matthias Prandtstetter and Clovis Seragiotto: Together with partner Evolit Consulting GmbH, the AIT logistics experts faced the virtual Smart Shipping Hackaton of the Dutch De Vlaamse Waterweg at the end of November and took second place.

As part of the challenge „Operations for the future: How should the government incorporate new technologies and organise their operations towards optimal traffic management?”, a holistic concept was developed to manage the international inland waterway transport of the future. In particular, the aspect of bottlenecks (locks, bridges, shallow waters, etc.) was taken into account and it was suggested that a corresponding slot management system should be set up where passageways have to be reserved – including gaming elements and incentive models for ship operators.
