The ERIGrid H2020 project, coordinated by AIT Senior Scientist Thomas Strasser, AIT Center for Energy, is the winner of the Renewable Grid Initiative’s (RGI) “Good Practice of the Year” award in the category of “Technological Innovation & System Integration”.
Antonella Battaglini, the CEO of the RGI presented the award trophy for “Holistic Approach for Evaluating Complex Smart Grid Systems” submitted by ERIGrid.
The award ceremony was taking place online on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2020 in context of the 6th Energy Infrastructure Forum, the Copenhagen Forum 2020, organized by the European Commission, DG ENER. In their opening addresses Commissioner Kadri Simson and the host of the conference, Minister Dan Joergensen, from Denmark emphasised that infrastructure is key enabler for reaching the targets of climate-neutrality. In their testimony the international jury remarked the great need for systematic testing of smart grid solutions and that the winner offers already advanced efforts towards demonstration, showing tangible and measurable results.
The Copenhagen Forum 2020 (6th Energy Infrastructure Forum ) is a platform of consultation for future policies, addressing the changes in grid development. For the 7th year in a row, the “Good Practice of the Year” award has been awarded by RGI, the ceremony was hosted by the Copenhagen Forum 2020.
RGI is a unique collaboration of NGOs and TSOs from across Europe promoting transparent, environmentally sensitive grid development to enable further steady growth of renewable energy and the energy transition.
