Christina Hochleitner explained how innovative digital products and services can be created from the ideas of a design thinking process.

The IDC CIO Summit took place in Vienna on 25 June, providing information on the strategic decisions that shape the future at the nexus of business and technology. Future-oriented CIOs, executives, industry leaders and IDC experts presented strategies, tactics and technologies that make a decisive difference. The event focused on digital innovation and digitalisation. Christina Hochleitner from the AIT Center for Technology Experience was invited to give a lecture on ‘From Design Thinking to User Experience’. She also took part in the IDC Innovation Challenge on the topic of ‘autonomous driving’. Her team convinced the jury with the idea of ‘Smart Wheely’.

From Design Thinking to User Experience

In her lecture entitled ‘From Design Thinking to User Experience’, Christina Hochleitner explained how the ideas of a design thinking process can be used to create innovative digital products and services that meet the requirements of the stakeholders and provide an appealing user experience. This is done by means of an experience-centred design process in which stakeholders are closely involved in the development of products and services. Using practical examples, Christina Hochleitner provided tips and tricks for the best possible realisation of innovative ideas.

The IDC Innovation Challenge was also held as part of the IDC CIO Summit. Seven teams competed for the best idea on the topic of ‘autonomous driving’. The team that included Christina Hochleitner won first prize, a donation of 1,000 euros to the Austrian Children's Cancer Aid, with the idea of the ‘Smart Wheely’. The ‘Smart Wheely’ is a versatile wheelchair that can be used both for short distances in the city and as a car for longer distances. During the journey with the ‘Smart Wheely’, an analysis of the driver's state of health and, if necessary, therapies is carried out.
